Evra’s the best in the business

Evra’s the best in the business

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Patrice Evra as the best left-back in the world and identified him as Manchester United’s unsung hero this season. While Wayne Rooney has taken all the plaudits for his 34-goal heroics, United boss Fergie singled out Evra as his most consistent performer this term. Evra, who has played in every one of United’s Premier League games this season, beat Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole to be named in the PFA Team of the Year. And United boss Fergie claimed no other Premier League player had come close to matching the French international for consistency of performance this season. “The form of Evra has been sensational all season,” said Fergie. “There’s no-one near Evra’s consistency. No-one. He’s the one player who has not missed any games. He’s only not started one Premier League game all season. We rested him at Blackburn because I think he needed a break, but he came on as a sub there and has done tremendously well since then. If you look at the rest of our back four, it’s all been scattered appearances. With that in mind, we’ve done remarkably well to still be in the picture despite the handicap of our back-four players being injured.”

Speaking of Patrice Evra, the Daily Mail claim Real Madrid are eyeing a summer move for the left back. Elsewhere, The Sun claim Rio Ferdinand will be fit to face Sunderland this weekend and that Ben Foster could be a target for Birmingham boss Alex McLeish.

The Daily Star warn United of Sunderland striker Darren Bent, saying he could be the man to end the Reds’ title dream this weekend.

Manchester United Striker Wayne Rooney Named PFA Player Of The Year

Englishman has enjoyed the finest season of his career.

By Anthreeony Sciarrino

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been named the 2010 PFA Player of the Year after a marvelous season that has seen him score 34 times in all competitions and help the Red Devils in their bid for a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The England international is fighting some injury problems but won the award comfortably ahead of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Manchester City forward Carlos Tévez, according to The Telegraph.

With two time PFA Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo departing Old Trafford for Real Madrid in the summer, Rooney has responded with the best season of his career, scoring 34 goals and helping United win the Carling Cup.

The 24-year-old is also the favorite for the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award.

In his young career Rooney has won three Premier League titles, two League Cups and a Champions League, with United still in heavy contention for a fourth league title in a row.

With Rooney winning the award this season it means that a United player has won the award for the fourth year in a row as Ryan Giggs won it last year and Ronaldo received the award each of the two seasons before that.

Rooney won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, but this year the honor went to Aston Villa’s James Milner, who has enjoyed a fine season for the Champions League hopefuls.

Premier League Team of the Year: Hart; Ivanovic, Vermaelen, Dunne, Evra; Fabregas, Milner, Fletcher, Valencia; Rooney, Drogba.

congratulations rooney. the season had been incredible. he did well despite the departure of ronaldo. i believe there’s more for him to show. im hoping that fergie would consider getting a good partner for him next season. anyway two matches to go before season ends. the title is still within reach thanks to spurs. all threet anothee clubs, chelsea, manchester united and arsenal fought well this season. let us hope for yet another great ending this time around.. good luck man u players!

team of the year.. why ivanovic and valencia? i have no doubt of others as they’ve showed some real talent this season. for right back position i was hoping for bosingwa, sagna. ivanovic seems vulnerable during most games. and a bit slow. looking at valencia.. well he’s pretty good but not the best. i can’t nominate one but i believe there’s some other players better than him. anyhow congrats to those nominated for team of the year. two matches to go… glory glory man united! article copied from Goal.com.

U.S. sees sanctions by May; Iran lobbies against West

An Iranian warship and speed boats take part in a naval war game in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, southern Iran April 22, 2010

(Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday he expects new sanctions on Iran by May as Tehran began lobbying the U.N. Security Council to oppose new steps against the Islamic Republic over its atomic plans.

WORLD

Biden issued the latest U.S. warning to Iran, locked in a standoff with the West over a nuclear program Tehran insists is entirely peaceful, in an appearance on ABC television’s “The View” talk show.

“Everyone from the Israeli prime minister straight through to the British prime minister to the president of Russia, everyone agrees the next step we should take is the U.N. sanction route,” Biden said.

“I believe you will see a sanction regime coming out by the end of this month, beginning of next month,” he said. Asked if Israel might attack Iran’s nuclear facilities without consulting Washington, Biden said Israel had agreed to wait and see what the impact of new U.N. sanctions would be.

As closed-door negotiations continue on a draft resolution for the U.N. Security Council, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki heads to Vienna and other capitals to lobby council members to oppose any new U.N. sanctions.

If negotiations on a fourth round of U.N. punitive measures against Tehran run past May, the U.S. House of Representatives has declared Congress should finalize legislation to impose new unilateral U.S. sanctions on Iran by the end of next month — whether or not the Security Council has acted.

The 403-11 vote signaled growing impatience on Capitol Hill with efforts by U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration and its allies to get a fourth round of U.N. sanctions to pressure Iran to curb a nuclear program the West fears is aimed at making a bomb.

Diplomats from the five permanent Security Council members — the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China — and Germany are meeting nearly every day in New York to revise a U.S.-drafted sanctions proposal that Moscow and Beijing would like to see watered down, Western diplomats say.

The proposed U.S. congressional measures are much tougher than those included in the U.N. draft proposal, agreed upon with Britain, France and Germany over a month ago before Washington passed it on to Russia and China for comment.

U.N. SANCTIONS TALKS COULD DRAG ON

The majority of U.S. lawmakers from both political parties are ready now to block Iran’s vital gasoline imports by imposing sanctions on its gasoline suppliers, a tough measure also favored by Israel. Both the House and the Senate passed legislation months ago to do this.

The U.S. draft for the 15-nation Security Council proposes some new curbs on Iranian banking, a full arms embargo, tougher measures against Iranian shipping, moves against members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and firms they control and a ban on new investments in Iran’s energy sector.

But the U.N. draft does not seek to block imports or exports of oil or gas products to or from Iran — measures that Russia and China have made clear they could not support.

Western diplomats familiar with the U.N. talks say the six powers are far from agreement on a draft to present to the full council and expect negotiations to drag on until June.

Diplomats said China proposed cutting some of the measures from the U.S. draft. Both Russia and energy-hungry China have close trade ties with Iran and fought hard to dilute three previous rounds of U.N. sanctions before voting for them.

The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, told Reuters in Tehran that Foreign Minister Mottaki would soon “meet and discuss with representatives of (council) member countries” the sanctions issue. Diplomats said Tehran was launching a lobbying campaign to avoid new sanctions.

Mottaki’s first stop will be Austria, which is on the council until the end of this year and also the seat of the U.N. nuclear watchdog. He is expected to meet with senior Austrian officials on Sunday, as well as the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano.

Mottaki met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu earlier this week in Tehran. Davutoglu told reporters his country, which is also on the Security Council and has made clear it would have trouble supporting new sanctions on Iran, was ready to help resolve Tehran’s standoff with the West.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was in Harare for talks with Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, a visit Mugabe’s opponents condemned as a meeting of despots.

Zimbabwean state media said Ahmadinejad’s visit was part of a drive to boost ties between nations at odds with the West.

The U.S. unilateral measures under discussion in Congress could make life difficult for countries trading with Iran.

A new report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that 41 foreign firms had commercial activity in Iran’s oil, natural gas and petrochemical sectors from 2005 to 2009.

Separately, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards successfully deployed a new speed boat on Thursday that is capable of destroying enemy ships in war games in a waterway crucial for global oil supplies, Iranian media reported.

watch this closely as the US and its allies are gathering “made-up” evidences to attack Iran. days for Iran are numbered. but this time, Iran is no Iraq. it took them sometime to bring down Iraq. it would take much more to bring down Iran. i have no hatred to americans. but the hatred goes to those people that decided it’s ok to murder another human for personal satisfaction. kids, women, elders murdered for no reason. and they’re talking about human rights and for peace. to Muslims on this globe, unite and be as one. to non-Muslims, support us in the name of peace and justice. article from Reuters.

Toothless

Meet toothless, the main dragon character in How To Train Your Dragon. So here’s some details of my favorite character..

The movie was directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders. Toothless was supervised by Gabe Hordos.

Toothless is a dragon from the Night Fury breed. The rarest and most intelligent of dragon species, the Night Fury is distinguished by its dark color and piercing yellow eyes, as well as its smaller size, heavy chest and short neck. Possessing the largest wing-to-body ratio of all dragons, it can fly higher, faster and longer than any dragon, and its incredible power-to-weight ratio renders it capable of vertical takeoff. Its unconventional fire (a semi-solid mass alight with an acetylene/oxygen flame) explodes its target on impact. Its signature attack mode is executed after sundown and from high altitude – enwrapped in its wings, it dives like a bullet, pulling up at the last moment to deliver one precise and explosive burst… then vanishing back into the darkness. The only warning is the ballistic noise the diving the Night Fury makes. Its kamikaze attack, along with its cautious behavior and analytical mind, makes the Night Fury a devastating opponent with an extraordinary success rate. To date, no Night Fury has ever been brought down.

Being the Night Fury, Toothless shares the common personality – reclusive, analytical, inventive and the most intelligent of the known dragon species. The Night Fury however is one picky eater. If a Night Fury eats something it doesn’t like, stand back. Flaming food flies fast!

Best of all, the species is a kamikaze bomber. Using the night to hide its dark hide, it dive bombs villages, ships and armies virtually unseen.

How To Train Your Dragon

dear readers..

go and watch HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON. please take some time off and go to the nearest cinema and enjoy this movie. this is definitely the best animated movie at least for the year. SHREK was awesome and keeping up with Shrek’s stature is a big wall to overcome for all animated movies. nevertheless HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON came up unexpectedly. the promotion was somewhat slow. that makes it a bit under rated. yet it shows some awesome animation together with such wonderful plot movement. if i have to rate this movie it would be 10/10.

so here’s some pics and short reviews available on the net.

From the studio that brought you “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” comes “How to Train Your Dragon.” Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell, the action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn’t exactly fit in with his tribe’s longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup’s world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges he and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view. – Dreamworks

“Boasting dazzling animation, a script with surprising dramatic depth, and thrilling 3-D sequences, How to Train Your Dragon soars.” – Rotten Tomatoes

It’s a thrilling action-adventure saga with exhilarating 3-D animation, a clever comedy with witty dialogue, a coming-of-age tale with surprising depth and a sweetly poignant tale of friendship between man and animal. – Claudia Puig, USA Today

With How to Train Your Dragon, the filmmakers tone down the glib factor and tell a pretty good action yarn, a boy-and-his-dragon story filled with fiery Viking battles, swordplay and dazzling aerial imagery aboard the flying reptiles. – David Germain, Associated Press
