2010 World Cup ends yesterday.. Spain won their first world cup trophy with some style after defeating holland 1-0. although they needed extra time to win it, they fought hard and well. holland gave somewhat a tough and very challenging game. they lost but they did fight hard. congratulations to both for making it to the finals and both showed why they deservedly be crowned as champions and runner-up.
Uruguay vs Netherlands
as i predicted Netherlands played very well to seal a place in the finals. Uruguay showed some flair as well but Netherlands ended the better side. 3-2.
Germany vs Spain
Sad for us German fans as Spain advances on a single goal advantage. they scored from a corner set-piece which was headed in by Puyol. Germans weren’t able to play at their usual pace. Outplayed by possession-play of the Spanish side. Germans got stucked. Spain got lucky again… 1-0.
My FINAL and 3rd PLACE Prediction and Result
3Rd Place: Germany vs Uruguay
for sure im with Germany on this one. and that ended as expected. the game was nicely played. Uruguay didn’t hold back. and the Germans came more alive after being outplayed by Spain in the semi-final. Germany ends their World Cup 2010 campaign by finishing 3rd. 3-2.
Final: Spain vs Netherlands
i like Netherlands game better. they were brave in attacks and they have some awesome pace in Robben. but being realistic i choose Spain. i thought they might play like they played Germany. keeping the ball and attack whenever there’s real opportunity. so i thought they might end lucky like they did against Germany.
however, in this World Cup Final, Spain came with a different look. they utilized their midfield prowess to dominate the game. they were not the same Spain that keep the ball for possession but this time they bombarded and pierced through Netherlands defense with awe. when Navas came on, they became more alive. the midfield combination of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets proved to be one of the best midfield combination in the world. at the end, although they played to a 0-0 draw, the game was flourished by dozens of shots and some magnificent saves by both keeper. Netherlands played hard as they had to suppress the Spanish flair. all Dutch except Sneijder and Stekelenburg were carded. finally, with just few minutes before extra time ends, Heitinga made a professional foul that costs him the second yellow – giving him a red card. with 10 men, Netherlands did not give up just yet. they still attack. but a Fabregas lob-pass found Iniesta unmarked. and he placed a firm shot beating Stekelenburg and into the net. Spain went on to win the World Cup Trophy by a single goal margin. they played well and they deserve to win this. congratulations Spain. 1-0.
